HEARD OF GOSSYPIN? NATURE never ceases to amaze!
I’ve been drinking hibiscus tea for years because it’s delicious and healthy! But now, there are even MORE reasons to enjoy this delicious flower tea.
Hibiscus flowers contain a substance called Gossypin, a flavone that has been found to suppress inflammation and cancer. In fact, scientists have now found that gossypin has the ability to totally stop melanoma cells from growing.
According to Dr. Hareesh Nair, Ph.D. of the Texas Biomedical Research Institute:
“We identified gossypin as a novel agent with dual inhibitory activity towards two common mutations that are the ideal targets for melanoma treatment,”
Dr. Nair who was in charge of the research stated that the “results indicate that gossypin may have great therapeutic potential as a dual inhibitor of mutations called BRAFV600E kinase and CDK4, which occur in the vast majority of melanoma patients.”
Nair and his colleagues worked with human melanoma cells in the lab. They found that gossypin inhibited human melanoma cell growth. In addition, gossypin treatment for 10 days reduced tumor volume and increased survival rate.
It was also found to be effective in prevention of type 2 diabetes.
You can buy the dried flowers from local health food stores, or online merchants like Mountain Rose Herbs. There is even a liquid condensed organic version that you can just squirt into a bottle of water and drink! It’s delicious and incredibly beneficial to your body at the same time.
