Male infertility? Thinking of having a baby? Having trouble removing fat from your midsection?
Estrogen dominance is a syndrome that has created a whole new category of health issues from infertility in both men and women, to cancers, to excess weight gain. Estrogen dominance is not only due to our exposure to phthalates and plastics, but also due to chemicals such as atrazine, a crop herbicide, used in our food supply. Sperm counts are dropping, with a 20% drop seen in just one generation, and the highest level of infertility we’ve ever seen. There are many of ways to avoid exposure to these kinds of chemicals:
Avoid plastics for food storage or heating, and altogether if you can. Still using plastic storage containers in your refrigerator or freezer? Time to ditch them and use glass instead.
Choose organic food when possible, thereby avoiding herbicides and pesticides such as atrazine and dieldrin.
Avoid antibacterial soaps and hand sanitizers with triclosan, which has a chemical structure similar to estrogen, has been found to be a hormone disrupter.
Avoid estrogenic foods like dairy and beef.
Avoid non-organic soy, and if you suffer from estrogen dominance, avoid all soy
“Researchers believe that the current increased incidence of testicular cancer in men is most likely due to FETAL exposure to estrogenic chemicals, which interfere with the ability of gonadal steroids to support normal tissue differentiation in utero. Elevated blood-estrogen levels while babies are in utero, are known to increase testicular cancer in men.”
BSA (conjugated estradiol), also known as synthetic estrogen, is routinely used in commercially raised livestock to fatten the animals (beef chicken and pork). This causes the effect often referred to as “chemical castration.” Ori Hofmekler, The Anti-Estrogenic Diet.
Here are some additional ways to protect your body from excess estrogen:
NUMBER ONE: Eat cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, cabbbage), onion and garlic, Citrus Fruits, Omega-3 oil (flaxseed, hempseed, walnuts).
NUMBER TWO: Consume plant-sterol rich foods — nuts, seeds, avocados, olives. These foods promote the anti-estrogenic hormones such as progesterone (women) and testosterone (men).
NUMBER THREE: Eat foods that help your liver detox properly including, green vegetables (most important and should be consumed every day), fruits, legumes, gluten free oats, turmeric, thyme, milk thistle, shilajit, dandelion root, amla berries, ginger and gotu kola.
